Sad day for football fans. He had his issues (I think he had an affair with Johnny Carson’s wife?) but seems to have had a stable relationship with Kathie Lee.
Sad day for his family, for sure.
I don’t know about the Johnny Carson wife issue, but I remember the affair he had with that woman from a plane trip. He was “set up” and he fell for it.
I was a big fan of his when he starred on the NY Giants. I had memorized every Giant player’s college, his height, his weight, and the number of years they had played in the NFL. I saw a film clip on television today and Y. A. Tittle was the NY Giants quarterback and his name always cracked me up. 
I watched Hoda talk about him on the Today Show this morning - she was clearly overcome by her grief. She mentioned that his daughter, Cassidy, said that his death is not a tragedy … she said that a 4 year old who dies from cancer is a tragedy … her dad had a long and wonderful life. I think that young lady was raised very well, and that is a testament to both Kathie Lee and to Frank.

I always liked the guy…and I am way too young to remember his playing days. But loved him on Monday Night Football. Hearing his career highlights today amazed me. An All-Pro at 3 different positions on the field, including defense? Wow. Not even to mention his golden boy career at USC. I was amused years ago when he was asked about the time the fearsome Chuck Bednarik of the Eagles litterally knocked him unconscious, casing Gifford to miss an entire year of playing. Gifford say he didn’t remember a thing…for several months! Of course he had the satisfaction of out-living Bednarik.
