When we toured they said the max amount awarded is $35K.

Thanks. I was hopeful that the max might be more. It leaves a balance of $57,000 per year which is high!

I got about $70K in financial aid per year, my remaining balance is $20K per year so they definitely give more.

That is great! We did not qualify for financial aid. The award was merit only.

It would be hard to pass on $20k/yr for F&M. Unfortunately, my older son’s package from last year matches my younger son’s package this year. F&M is just not meant to be… yet again.

Mine was also Wait listed with 1590 Sat, 3.7 uw GPA, 9 AP, good ECs, and a personal email from the music department saying that they liked his supplemental and would be sending a positive note to admissions. Our school counselor is confused since usually kids from our HS are accepted with much lower stats. Maybe it is yield protection? Have other high stats kids been wait listed?

I’d recommend writing a continued interest email. I think they care a lot about demonstrated interest. My son wet to Admitted Students Day yesterday and the administration and professors were so kind.

is it so? ive been waitlisted with my EFC being 18k. Still waiting to hear my decisions but I wont be surprised if I’m rejected because of aid. But I think thee 35k is merit only, they can give more aid..

I wrote it and submitted it within 2 weeks, but as an international, the process isnt looking quite bright.

Yes, the max merit award was $35k, per our tour, but financial aid is different.

Does anyone know whether F&M gives any preference to legacy students?

According to their common data set entry, they say it’s ā€œConsideredā€. So maybe not a heavy influence, but it certainly helps.

Thanks! I should have thought to look there!!
