Fraternities

I got accepted to both Duke and Rice(Mech eng). I am a little reluctant on choosing Duke because of the fraternity system because i personally like the residential college system. So how easy is it to get into a frat(i am a non legacy int student) and if you dont get into a fraternity how is the social scene at Duke?

Arpit10295, you have nothing to worry about! Duke’s fraternity system isn’t institutionalized-brothers in fraternities don’t live together in one huge fraternity house like in pretty much every other college. There’s a fraternity out there for every guy so you"ll have no trouble finding one you like and one who likes you if you really research the system, attend as many open houses as you can during the first week, and spend time with brothers in fraternities you feel like you “click” with.

Duke is a very welcoming school if you’re Greek, part of a Selective Living Group (SLG), or unaffiliated.

There are plenty of SLGs for you to check out at Duke as well:
