Fraternities

I am hesitant to ask this question because whenever fraternities are posted on CC people get offended about what is posted. I am a freshman and I want to join a fraternity. I am from California so I really know nothing about the fraternities on campus. I really dont care about rankings and tiers I just want to find a fraternity that cares about grades, likes to participate in intramurals/sports, has a house on campus, not heavy drinkers, just good all around guys. I am Jewish but I am fine with being in a non-Jewish fraternity. I am a very good student, athletic and very social. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Go visit tables and go visit the chapters–you can say that you want those qualities in a house, but it’s not about the chapter itself and more about the guys that you meet and connect with. All of the houses care about grades, all of them participate in intramurals/sports, most have houses on campus, and all of them are good guys, so you aren’t really narrowing anything down there.

Asking what chapters check a series of boxes isn’t going to find you a good fit. You need to go out and meet the guys in each chapter and find the ones you connect with best. Not every question can be answered on CC, sometimes you have to get off the computer and go do the legwork, especially when it comes to Greek life.

I was in your position 5 years ago… Go by yourself, dont go with a group of guys. Ask questions and seem interested, or ya know actually be interested. Tell them what you want and make them want you not the other way around. There are thousands of guys who rush every year and the fraternities are all fighting for the same group of guys. If you don’t like a place dont waste your time or theirs. Don’t bring up your religion because you will just be cast-typed into only wanting a jewish fraternity even if that isnt a case (unless your name ends with a berg or a stein then you are fighting an uphill battle). Find like three fraternities you like and go to as many events as possible, dont drink too much there, talk to as many as guys as possible and remember things about them and their fraternity. If you have any other questions PM me, I will be glad to help another fellow member of the tribe out.
