some upc sororities have non-white members, so if you wanted to get in there you can, they won’t necessarily cut you from rush just because your last name is hispanic, so if you want to rush those, you can certainly try out, if it’s not for you that’s your thing lol. if you want to rush UPC, I say go for it, you’ll never know what it’s like unless you try.

All the biggest, competitive houses have had hispanics, arabs, jewish, asians, et al. All, but blacks.

Do you think if Obama’s son was rushing, he’d have a chance?

well i know black fraternities/sororities are like sister/brothers…

im pretty sure a few other fraternities use that concept

@TXhorn - NOOOOO! Everyone here hates Obama, especially the bigger fraternities… everyone is a big happy family <3.

I personally think that the whole fraternity/sorority thing is a joke. I don’t need to spend 4k a semester to have fun/friends/social life. Also, I don’t need letters to define who I am, give me stereotypes, and shrink my mind into believing the principles that most of these stand for. I call BS on anyone that says that they joined one for “sisterhood/brotherhood.”

its a networking thing

networking hardly works… unless its university-wide IE. Like A&M

I know it’s a networking thing, but for 4k a semester? No, thanks. I can “network” other clubs for free. I used to be in a sorority and every single month when I paid that bill I asked myself “what the hell am I paying for?” You’d be surprised the ridiculous fees you pay for sisterhood. The magazine of the one I was in even went as far to have a cover that said “More sisterhood for your buck.” Um… what??

wait, you actually have to pay to join/stay in a fraternity/sorority? Lol it better be like the Aggie Network…

paying to ‘‘network’’? shoot i’d rather just join facebook. lol :p

yeah. otherwise everyone would be all over the greek world without a doubt, and hierarchy would go out the window. you think bar tabs, parties, and date nights are free?

i was just kidding…? of course i know you have to pay to be greek.

i was referring to pierrechn… i guess i should have put the “@” sign.

sorry!!

@mkose1- I still disagree with you. I know exactly what your talking about, but people did not go outside their comfort zone in the past because they chose to be uncomfortable around those who had minut differences. If they looked past the little differences(sometimes large, ex: language barriers) they would see the things they have in common. Fast-forward 200,000 years, I would hope we would have evolved for the better, not for the worse. The whole point of having a diverse society is to have different cultures, different “people” bonding. This creates the society we should hope to have. That means getting to a point where you can be socializing without that awkward and uncomfortable feeling.

Honestly, if somebody was friendly, I do not care 2 cents what they are wearing(as long as their not naked), what they look like, race, or etc. I would never cut them out of my list of friends to talk/hang out with.

Btw, I apologize for being rude in my earlier post. Was falling asleep.

We haven’t evolved; who taught you this junk? Humans we’re made by a Creator. He built some of us wearing Sperry’s and others wearing cargo shorts. It was meant to separate each of these types in society.

I’ll take hanging out with myself x 100+ over diversity any day of the week! I am so awesome!

hahaha tx horn – the sperrys.
i just found out those were in style - i call them man shoes, but they’re still cute.

…she did not just call the manly Sperry’s “cute”

a lot of girls wear sperrys… i do.

Yeah sperrys are awesome, I love mine, and I also love my moccasins, they’re great for the summer when I’m always wearing shorts.
