Fraternity/Sorority Rush + Rankings

I would also like to know the process for sophomore rushing…

I don’t want to seem conceded but I don’t think that I will have a very tough time getting bids from most of the frats. Women find me attractive and I can chat up a storm pretty easily. I am smart enough to get into U of M but i’m not very nerdy. I know three different people from my home-town that are in fraternities here at U of M and yet it is still difficult to get into parties. I would like to be able to meet the brothers at the “Tier 1” fraternity houses but it is nearly impossible to get in unless you are girl that is at least a 5 or 6. I am aware that there is the mass meeting on Monday the 10th for IFC, but are there any other ways that I can meet brothers at fraternities or at least be able to get into their parties so that I can get my name out there?

Do any of you know which sororities typically participate in Continuous Open Bidding and Winter rush? Is there any chance of still getting into a sorority after you did not receive a bid there? (and are a sophomore already)

How big is Phi Rho Alpha on campus? They’re a local sorority…do they socialize with the other Greek chapters at all or are there just on their own?

I’d also like to know which sororities have winter rush!

there’s only 2-3 sororities that participate in winter rush

which ones?

As a freshman going through rush and having to drop out, most girls wanted to be TriDeltas or Kappas. Looking at the bid day pictures, these two houses received the prettiest girls. Alpha Pi is still good, but they did not do as well this year-see bid day pictures–they just are not as pretty as the TriDeltas. I hope to join TriDeltas or Kappa next year and everyone wanted these houses too. Alpha Pi is also far away from everything, so people did not like the location of the house, but they are definitely top 5.

Any fraternities with rolling recruitment?

Do all fraternities have a winter rush process? If not all, can someone list please. I missed out on rushing fall. Also, how difficult is winter rush if you did not rush that particular house in the fall? Any other tips on winter rush? Thanks!

Yes, all fraternities have a winter rush process. About the same difficulty as fall.

No, no fraternities with an active rolling recruitment. If you know A LOT of the brothers really well, there’s a chance to get in, but most likely you’ll need to wait until winter rush.

Do any of the sororities at Michigan have informal recruitment during the winter semester?

As an UM alumna from a Trier I house I would like to suggest that anyone wishing to rush should seriously consider getting as many letters of recommendation as possible. If a sorority receives a letter for a rushee from an alumna member they will always invite that candidate back to the second set of parties. That gives you one more chance to make an impression.

Letters of recommendation are far less common with fraternities, but when they receive one they will make an effort to meet that candidate.

You need to call the greek office at U of M. If a sorority did not make quota or is not a chapter total, they can add members.

im pretty sure aepi doesnt have winter rush since they have about 60 people in their pledge class

Every fraternity does winter rush and aepi definitely doesn’t have close to 60 people in their pledge class.

I have some friends in DU. I know this is like their first real year of Greek and didn’t have pregame partners. They have a really new and nice house, chill guys and some new good sorority relations. I know they have been on sopro this first semester. Any other thoughts tho?

Since their house burnt down a couple years back and it was just finished this year it will take a few years before they can gain in the greek rank ladders. Since without their main house they werent very well known.

What’s Pi Kapps story? Any good?

Pikes are always listed as one of the best fraternities at Michigan. See earlier in this thread.
