This email was forwarded to me a few days ago. It provides from answers.

"Good Afternoon,

For the first time in years, financial aid has not been able to process all of the files (due to a significant increase in workload and decrease in staff), so aid for some students will not be ready to disburse on the 14th. All students were told to have the required documents in by 7/15/2010 to ensure their aid was ready (numerous reminder notices were sent). Aid for students who met the 7/15/2010 deadline is ready and will disburse on the 14th.

Each day the financial aid office completes more files. (Being closed to the public this past week has helped.) The following notice was just posted to the financial aid website, to remind students that it is their responsibility to ensure their fees are paid, regardless of the status of their aid. Students can sign up for the fee deferment plan prior to 9/16/2010 to assist with the payment of their fees.

[Fee Non Payment Drop Deadline](http://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/NewsStories/FallFeeDeadline.html)

To mitigate the impact a bit, roughly 1600 students, who have submitted financial aid documents after the 7/15/2010 deadline, will be protected from having their classes dropped. They will not receive any aid, but will not lose their classes.

For a variety of reasons some financial aid students will be dropped from their classes. A few examples are;
· Students who have not submitted any documents

· Students whose aid is ready, but they have not cleared a prior term debt, which holds the current aid

· Students whose aid disburses, but is not enough to cover the full fee payment and the student didnt pay the difference

I anticipate you may be hearing about this situation. **Please gently discourage students from calling or visiting the financial aid office, as this delays the processing of the documents that have been submitted. **By checking MyAwards and SISWEB every couple of days, the student can avoid calling or coming by the financial aid office to learn the status of their file.

Documents are processed in date order, as of today (9/10/2010), FAO is working on documents received 8/9/2010. Students should to do the following things:
· Pay their fees

· Submit all required documents they should use the brown mailbox in the courtyard in front of Dutton Hall

· Check MyAwards to see what required documentation is missing and/or why their aid isnt disbursing

· Check SISWEB on September 14, 2010 and after to see if their aid has disbursed (aid disburses nightly after 9/14)

If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to seek my assistance.

Take Care,

So I think you won’t be dropped from your classes. Your aid will not be disbursed until they process it, it’ll probably take a while since they’re so backed up. Maybe sign up for the fee deferment plan?
