FREAKING OUT about Financial Aid

Hi, financial aid is supposed to be disbursed today, but when I logged on myawards, it was newly updated (as in yesterday this was not there) to my parents’ Schedule C = not satisfied. Thing is, I mailed all of my tax papers a LONG time ago, and the Schedule C is right in the middle of that packet, I don’t understand how they got everything else but not the Schedule C.

I faxed them the documents immediately. I called 2384732974823 times, but the line is busy, and all emails have been automatically replied.

What do I do now??
Will financial aid drop after the sep 16th deadline?

This email was forwarded to me a few days ago. It provides from answers.

"Good Afternoon,

For the first time in years, financial aid has not been able to process all of the files (due to a significant increase in workload and decrease in staff), so aid for some students will not be ready to disburse on the 14th. All students were told to have the required documents in by 7/15/2010 to ensure their aid was ready (numerous reminder notices were sent). Aid for students who met the 7/15/2010 deadline is ready and will disburse on the 14th.

Each day the financial aid office completes more files. (Being closed to the public this past week has helped.) The following notice was just posted to the financial aid website, to remind students that it is their responsibility to ensure their fees are paid, regardless of the status of their aid. Students can sign up for the fee deferment plan prior to 9/16/2010 to assist with the payment of their fees.

[Fee Non Payment Drop Deadline](http://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/NewsStories/FallFeeDeadline.html)

To mitigate the impact a bit, roughly 1600 students, who have submitted financial aid documents after the 7/15/2010 deadline, will be protected from having their classes dropped. They will not receive any aid, but will not lose their classes.

For a variety of reasons some financial aid students will be dropped from their classes. A few examples are;
· Students who have not submitted any documents

· Students whose aid is ready, but they have not cleared a prior term debt, which holds the current aid

· Students whose aid disburses, but is not enough to cover the full fee payment and the student didn’t pay the difference

I anticipate you may be hearing about this situation. **Please gently discourage students from calling or visiting the financial aid office, as this delays the processing of the documents that have been submitted. **By checking MyAwards and SISWEB every couple of days, the student can avoid calling or coming by the financial aid office to learn the status of their file.

Documents are processed in date order, as of today (9/10/2010), FAO is working on documents received 8/9/2010. Students should to do the following things:
· Pay their fees

· Submit all required documents – they should use the brown mailbox in the courtyard in front of Dutton Hall

· Check MyAwards to see what required documentation is missing and/or why their aid isn’t disbursing

· Check SISWEB on September 14, 2010 and after to see if their aid has disbursed (aid disburses nightly after 9/14)

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to seek my assistance.

So I think you won’t be dropped from your classes. Your aid will not be disbursed until they process it, it’ll probably take a while since they’re so backed up. Maybe sign up for the fee deferment plan?

Yeah, I’m a bit confused with my MyBill statement.

I know FA gets disbursed today, but I’m still confused. A couple of days ago the current balance on my account was $8,000+, now it’s down to $3800. In the recent account activity, my UG scholarship is posted, but it’s in the negative…I don’t get it! :/

I’m also freaking out over the registration fees that are due on the 16th. Doesn’t FA automatically take out the money from my account? I go to the ebill tab and it says I need to pay my fees. One, I don’t know if I can pay out of pocket! My fees are $1100. Trying to sign up for the deferred payment plan through SISWEB, but it says I can’t.

Please help! Thank you.

I checked my MyAwards and it tells me that all of my documents have been recieved but my financial aid hasn’t disbursed yet. The balance on my sisweb account is ~$6800, am I supposed to pay all of that out of pocket since my aid hasn’t disbursed yet. Or do I just pay the fall quarter registration fee’s (~$3900) before Sept. 16 instead of the whole ~$6800?

@fouronefive

You pay the “Current Balance” amount.

Your UG scholarship is negative because it was used to pay for part of your fees. (All of your financial aid should be negative)

You can to go eBills > View Current Billing Statement to see what you were charged and what was paid. On the bottom of the first page, “Total Amount Due” should be the same as your Current Balance.

Financial aid automatically disburses your aid money to pay for your bills. But if you don’t have enough aid to cover all of your fees, you pay the difference.

Try to sign up again. If it still doesn’t work call the Student Accounting Office at (530) 752-3646.

@azurite
Did you send your documents after 7/15?

@himerus:
no i submitted the papers before july 15, the only thing i submitted afterwards was an asset info paper they mailed me in late august.

They probably haven’t processed it yet.
(Documents are processed in date order, as of today (9/10/2010), FAO is working on documents received 8/9/2010.)

Yes, Fall quarter registration needs to be paid by the 16th. If you don’t have the money, sign up for deferred payment plan.
I’m assuming the other charges is for student housing. It is due Oct 1. Hopefully your aid is disbursed before then!

Ok guys, calm down, calm down. I believe they are doing names by alphabetical order, so be patient and wait. Everything should be there tomorrow.

@himerus Oh I see! I get it now. Thanks for your help! :)

I just spoke to the FA office, everything is ok! :smiley: I was worrying over nothing, lol.

glad you go that through fouronefive :]
I have a question. So I have a negative balance on mybill due to the aid and when I ordered books online at the ucdbook site I entered my account number as payment. Will the cost of the books be billed to my “mybill”.

You guys mentioned the Deferment plan. I’m a bit confused about it though, it says that the deadline in SiSweb is September 1, but it is well past that date. So is the plan Still valid?

To my understanding if the current balance is positive, then that’s what you still need to pay. If the current balance is negative, then that’s the money that you’re getting back? Is that right? Thanks.

I had a $7000 scholarship sent to UC Davis and it shows up on my awards but it doesn’t show up on approved financial aid on mybill. Anyone know when it will show up?

@sprozelth The cost of your books will most likely not be billed to mybill. By account number, I am assuming you are referring to your checking/savings account. The cost of the book is deducted from your debit account(OR added to the balance of your credit card). The negative amount is what will enter your bank account via check/direct deposit so you might wanna check up on your account balance and details.

@tincan yes, negative is the money you will be receiving via check or direct deposit. If the current balance is positive, is it the amount due by Sept 16th. Because your’s is in the negative, your check will be coming through the mail soon or directly deposited into your bank account on the 20th.

If it says current amount due as of Sept. 16 is 0 than that means that it has been disbursed? My biggest problem right now is that it says my orientation fees haven’t been payed. . .and yet my amount due is 0? I don’t understand it :(

Do orientation fees get payed through disbursement or am I going to have to bike my happy self down to Dutton with payment coupons?

@baaitsbilly soryy for not being specific but the account number that i put for the book order was my student ID

@Shinsharogi
The deadline is September 16th.
[CSRG | Registration Fee Deferred Payment Plan (RFDPP)](Office of the University Registrar (OUR))

@flwrgrl
See what you were charged for here Go to MyBill > eBills > View Current Billing Statement. And calculate it yourself to make sure your total due is $0.

I’m not sure about the orientation fee. I’m looking at my old billing statement and I don’t see it there. I think it may have been added to Fall registration fee? I don’t remember. Sorry.

@sprozelth
Your student ID is not an account number! You can’t buy things using your student ID number. No MyBill will not be billed. You will be billed.
If you want to buy books right now, you have to use your own funds (YOUR OWN or your parents’ money/bank account/debit card/credit card etc.)

The leftover financial aid money will be disbursed to you on the 20th. If you signed up for direct deposit, it will be disbursed into the bank account you put. If you didn’t, you’ll have to pick up a check from the financial aid office.

my ebill says:
statement amount: $-3230.03
current balance: $666.31

When I look at sisweb, it tells me that the $666.31 is the leftover amount that i need to pay for housing. Am I getting $-3230.03 back and THEN making the full payment for housing? Or will that -3230 automatically go towards housing once housing is due? Also, is that $666 due on the 16th?

I’m planning on calling financial aid tomorrow, but seeing your guys’ luck on getting through doesn’t give me much hope.

Thanks in advance!

@ty1234 you are going to have to pay $666.31 to Davis by Sept 16th. The statement amount is how much you were charged, your financial aid did its thing and covered as much as it could, now you have to pay $666.31.
