<p>I got a a DS scholarship and entry to the honors program, it looks like they’re willing to wine and dine me for honors weekend, should I go?</p>

<p>Cool deal! Sounds as if we should have let the kid go on his own! He’s staying on campus and we’re paying for our own room at the R-C and driving down. Maybe he would have gotten a like offer if he’d told them we were sending him alone!</p>

<p>It was probably Phelana then, wasn’t it? I have her e-mail. Thanks, but we’ll be going with him, since we want to, anyway. We have friends in NO, and we want to see the place. No way they’re going to pay for OUR room, and he wants to stay on campus.</p>

<p>Thought that might be the case. We’re getting ours at half price. I think asking for “the Tulane rate” might be a good idea no matter where you’re trying to make a reservation. We had trouble finding a room almost anywhere by the time we got the Honors invitation, though. It came late, apparenlty because they stuck the machine read sticker on upside down. </p>
<p>Or could it be because we live in the sticks?</p>
<p>Oh well, at least I got to talk to Phelana, who is a very pleasant young woman.</p>

<p>Don’t assume that, Twinkle! We were looking for a room when we found out about the discounted rate. It’s a regular thing with some of the hotels–nothing to do with who you are. And the free flight is probably questionable as well, perhaps another misreading. If they offered you a DSA, then they want you!</p>
<p>absolutely twink, what ctymom~ said. My son got DHS last year, no free flight, no free hotel. Although now, free of charge, he is having the time of his life!</p>
