Free news sites that you like

I am bummed out about the now charging of the BBC in the US and just don’t want to start paying for all the news. PBS and NPR are good. Any others you particularly like?

Fox

I like cnn but they charge although if you google the story you can find a free link.

I like the contrast of the two - fox starts with liberal this or blue state that unless it starts in a red state - like gun violence.

CNN is not all news based but often vs commentary.

I guess it’s unoriginal but those are the two I frequent.

I am using AP, Reuters, The Guardian and the PBS Newshour. Because I had to cancel my WaPo subscription, the Philly Inquirer is excellent but kinda expensive (not that I blame them, but our budget has limits). I find CNN more talk than news now, and I will have an aneurysm if I have to look at Fox.

I have quite a few subscriptions on Substack but most offer free content. I like The Contrarian and Aaron Parnas for news and discussion.

Check your local library. Many offer free access to NY Times, WSJ, etc. with your library card.

I did and I have to sign in every time to the library and then to the news source.

Forgot about Reuters, and AP is a great idea.

If your interest is in politics, I use TheHill dot com.

I don’t have a tv so don’t have access to all possible sources.
I do look at differing viewpoints online (like Fox) thanks to my feed. I think it is important to look at diverse sources to better understand what is going on, but I rely on those I listed (Richardson daily)

If you want to look up the bias/slant of a news source, or even an specific article, this site is good.

Very helpful. I had looked at this a while back but it is refresher.

I have paid subscriptions to a few, but I start each day with Heather Cox Richardson. Like it’s my religion.

Are we only talking about news sites? There are lots of free sites I like- especially ones that give me $ back!

I’ve sent this plus videos to my in-laws (88 yo) who will never believe anything unless it comes from one tv news (don’t think that is accurate) source. Ughhhhh - if they’d only check other sources, that’s all, just a variety of news sources. But NOPE.
