free ride for high stats kid

For automatic-for-stats scholarships, see this thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html

Of course, there are also competitive full ride scholarships at other schools, such as:

President’s at Georgia Tech
Park at NCSU
Robertson at Duke and UNC-CH
Morehead-Cain at UNC-CH
Drake at Berkeley for mechanical engineering majors

Some public universities have large scholarships available only to in-state students. So check your in-state public universities.

If the student is from a poor enough family, and gets into one of the schools known for very generous financial aid, s/he may get a full or near-full ride of need-based aid.
