I’m interested in bulking up my college list with more women’s colleges as I have started loving the idea of attending one. However, I’d like to save as much money as possible, so I’m wondering which women’s-only colleges are free to apply. I’m mostly interested in NY, MA, and PA. So far I’ve applied to Simmons and plan on applying to Smith, both of which are free.
I figured this list could help other people too. So if you know of any free-to-apply women’s colleges, please post them here!
Wesleyan College (Macon, GA) isn’t in your geographic region but is free to apply.
Bryn Mawr waives the application free (aka is free) if you apply online.
Wellesley does not have an application fee. However, if you are applying for Financial Aid, you will need to file the CSS Profile, which does have a fee. Also, sending test scores usually has a cost involved, unless you have waivers.
Sweet Briar College (14 miles from Lynchburg VA) is free. http://discover.sbc.edu/newstudentapplication.php
Mount Holyoke College; College of St. Benedict (Minnesota); College of New Rochelle
(New Rochelle, NY); Salem College (Winston Salem, NC); Mary Baldwin College
(Staunton, VA)
I listed those schools just in case you want to explore beyond three states.
Russell Sage College(Troy NY)
Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke are also test-optional, further saving you money on test scores (if you choose not to send them).
Russell Sage is also test optional with no additional requirements if you don’t send test scores
Sweet Briar is free and it looks like a simple application – http://discover.sbc.edu/newstudentapplication.php
