French subject test

I have been told by many that d should not take the French test unless she has “lived in France” and had total submersion in the language.

Has anybody taken it and gotten high grade who has just had 3-4 years of HS French?

My girlfriend got a 5. Her only “upper hand” on others is that she independent studied with a tutor instead of taking the first few years of French. But she has still had 4 years of “teaching” in French without living in France.

However, she’s also a genius. Everyone else at our school who has taken French has never gotten higher than a 4, and most get 2’s. So it just depends on the situation I guess. But you can definitely get a 5 without having lived in France–that’s a ridiculous prerequisitve!

But, it sounds like she was immersed - which is the same. Your schools exp proves tbd point

What do you mean by a ‘high score’? I got a 730 on French with listening after 5 years being taught by teachers who weren’t exactly brilliant. The test isn’t that hard, especially the reading one. Now that I’ve been doing IB French for almost a year, I’m confident that if I retook the test, I could be a lot closer to an 800.
