Freshman advanced chemistry course instead of gen chem?

I’m an incoming freshman at NYU, planning to major in biochem!
I already went to CAS Orientation, and took the entering exam for adv chem and got in
so I signed up for it

what’s the difference between adv chem and gen chem? Is it much harder?
Should I study before college? -.-
what should I study?
thanks is advance!

The main difference between the advanced chem and regular general chemistry is that while gen chem is basically the same as AP Chem and is an overview of chemistry, the advanced class is an introduction to physical chemistry instead of just a harder version of gen chem. From what I heard, it is significantly harder, however it is a smaller class and the grading curve is also supposed to be easier.

I don’t think you necessarily need to pre-study, but I would definitely make sure you brush up on your chemistry and physics, because I think they expect you to have all that down already.
