Freshman can answer questons

Okay, i went to the BU reception and found out that Elie Wiesel was a professor at BU! OH EM GEEEE!!! haha sorry

i was wondering, how hard is it to get into his class? I’m going to be an incoming CAS freshman and want to be in his class SOOO BADLY! Could you give me a few tips?

Eli Wiesel teaches graduate students. However, he does give an annual lecture in the George Sherman Student Union, and anyone can attend.

Call unergraduate admissions ASAP. They are the ones that help you I think, but if not, they will direct you to who does.

Also, make SURE they do it because you’ll need to go to the orientation of the school you’re switching into.

im switching CFA to COM do you think its possible?

I thought EW was a “University Professor” as they call those on the faculty of the University Professor’s undergrad program. He is not the only Nobel winner on staff.

It’s possible he teaches undergrads also, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that students had to petition to enroll in his classes.

i was wondernig if you guys see many students who is doing double degree.
do you guys think its way too hard to get double degrees in four years?
and do you guys think its worth it thu?

by the way, im trying to get degrees in cfa(graphic design) and Comm(advertising)

I was thinking about double majoring in Graphic Design and Advertising too! (Ive been accepted into CFA) Awesome! Im worried about the workload as well…worst comes to worst, Ill probably pick up Advertising as a minor. -_- Although Ive heard off BUNite that minors don’t show up on your diploma (link: http://community.livejournal.com/bunite/675034.html</a>)

They don’t go on your diploma, but they go on your resume. And that’s what matters.

“It’s possible he teaches undergrads also, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that students had to petition to enroll in his classes.”

He does teach a course at the undergrad level. His class (as well as several others) require petitioning due to the high demand–there’s a huge waitlist to take it. Big name professors like Wiesel, though, may not always teach undergrad–some semesters, they may only teach grad, and some semesters they may not teach at all.

Personally, I was much more excited about Robert Pinsky. Ha Jin is also a big name to look for.

I did it in four years. It’s worth and how hard it is to complete depends greatly on your situation.

im trying to get a degree in graphic design (CFA)and advertising(COM)…

ratemyprofessor.com

needs to be your best firend!

How difficult is it to get into Ha Jin’s classes?

what do you guys think about housing at 1019 commonwealth avenue or 575 commonwealth avenue?

u won’t get into 1019 as a freshman, but it’s a nice place and close to the west campus dining hall.

575 (aka hojo because it used to be a howard johnson hotel) has mostly triples that have lofted beds. lofted means your bed is high and above your desk. lots of people say it’s cramped, but there’s definitely as much space as any other dorm room. u have a private bathroom and controllable air/heat. the hojo is close to SMG, SED, SAR, and COM. i don’t live there, but every time i visited a friend there and used the study lounge, there always seemed to be SMG students studying in groups and practicing presentations. hojo doesnt have a dining hall… the towers dining hall is closest, and if u get bored of their limited food, warren isnt that much farther. also, the hojo is extremely quiet… most doors are closed, and your floormates are floormates, not friends (unlike warren, west, towers). some rooms can see a little bit of fenway park.
