Freshman Course Selection

Hey guys, I’m a freshman right now and I’m thinking about transfer. However, I have not decided which major I would like to study but maybe East Asian Studies will help me with the transfer process.
I’m really struggling with course selection right now. Our school does not have a major in EAS (only a minor) so there aren’t many classes I can take. Since I’m an international student, I also don’t want to take too many major courses on my first year in college.
So there are several options for me. I can either take an EAS related course+a language course (a pre req for many EAS majors but I already fluent in Chinese) or take a course that I think is going to really improve my writing and reading skills but this course mainly focuses on Philo and Theology (which are not my main interests) and is extremely hard for international student to get an A (which also means it’s challenging but I don’t think that AO would know that). Or I can just take the EAS course and another sociology course (which I think will be interesting and sociology is also a field that I’m interested in. But this combination is not as strong as EAS+language to show my passion for EAS.)
Regarding recommendation letter, the EAS course has a huge class size while the other Philo course only has a very small class size and the Philo prof is generally better.
I’m really struggling and is thankful to any advice!!!

Look up the lower level major requirements for the major at your target colleges and take the available similar courses at your current college.

Check the language requirement policies for your major at your target colleges. They may allow fulfillment by high level placement by exam, for example. Or if a suitable high level language course is available at your current college, you can take that.
