Freshman Courses

Yet another freshman looking for advice on courses ;)

Looking at the course info for Chem101, I noticed there’s a special section (Chem101-004/055-001) reserved for freshman that is recommended for natural science majors (according to the handbook we got). Does anyone know how that section differs from the “regular” sections of Chem101 open to everyone, aside from the freshman/upperclassmen distinction? The only thing I’ve been able to see is that the freshman section seems to have an extra lecture…

Also, I’m having a heck of a time trying to pick a freshman seminar (there’s just too many that sound interesting!) While I’ve taken a look at PCR, I’m wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the following courses/teachers:

 1. Politics of Crime, Punishment and Race; Marie Gottschalk
 2. Mad, Sad and Bad: Mental Disorders in Children; David Mandell
 3. Mideast Through Many Lenses; Heather Sharkey
 4. Religion and the Brain; Andrew Newberg

Thanks!
