Freshman Honors Program

How do I find out if I was admitted to the Freshman Honors Program? I am interested in a Joint Degree program at Marshall and it’s only available to the Honors students.

I think you are referring to the Global Leadership Program for Marshall. They send you an invitation… But all scholarship candidates received their letters in their binders during their Explore USC/scholarship interviews.

I am not sure whether others are sent out.

The joint degree programs (CN-TV, East Asia Studies, Int’l Relations) is not only open to honor student BUT honor students get priority.

Hope that helped.

This is what the USC catalogue states: “The program is available to freshmen admitted to the Freshman Honors Program.”

USC also mentioned that students admitted with honors received their decisions in early March. I received mine March 2nd, but haven’t had a chance to call and confirm. Is the GLP and Honors given out only to students who received scholarships? If so, is it not mentioned anywhere else/given out otherwise? Can I reapply every year?

This is what my letter says…

“The GLP is open by invitation to the most academically talented students in each incoming freshmen class.” (I am not sure whether that is an indication that it is only avaliable to incoming freshmen)

"Special features of the GLP include:

PRIORITY access to one of the Joint Programs with Marshall and CN-TV, IR, and EAS"

But in the Guide to USC 2005-06… it also mentions priority access.

And on USC Marshall website (http://www.marshall.usc.edu/web/Undergraduate.cfm?doc_id=3414</a>)
“The following joint programs are offered to students on a first come, first serve basis. Members of the Global Leadership Program have priority access.”

“The Global Leadership Program is open by invitation to the most academically talented students in each incoming class. These students form their own cohort, take the Freshmen Leadership and Global Leadership seminars their first year, and have access to many exciting opportunities including visiting international businesses here and abroad, job shadowing, and priority access to our three joint programs.”

I saw where you found that “the program is avaliable to freshemn admitted to the Freshmen Honors Program”.

But the general jist of what I am getting is that… everyone can try for the Joint Program but GLP students will definitely have priority.

My very long two cents.

Oh yea… I think I mentioned that they did put the letters in envelopes and everything but they didn’t even bother sending them. The scholarship candidates just found a sealed envelope in our binders. It wasn’t until someone asked a qestion about GLP that the lady (Tiffany) mentioned the envelope in our binder (I was resisting the urge to rip it open unlike some other people. heh).

You should call Marshall. (213)740-8885

Wait, so…twilightdarling, you got your invitation for the Global Leadership Program already??

Opps. Bad timing.

Yes. I got my invitation when I was at USC for my pres. scholarship interview.

I want to be in the GLP. International Business is my intended major and I’m sure it would be highly beneficial.

does anyone know much about the cinema-televison joint program at marshall?
