<p>Yes there is. You apply for housing during your orientation, so you should have the opportunity to apply for a single then.</p>
<p>I can’t attend my orientation as I live in a different country. Is there a form I can fill or something? If so, can you please show me where?</p>

<p>Although we’re located in a small town, you will find our campus a very cosmopolitan and international place. Our students come from over 70 countries worldwide, so we think you will feel comfortable no matter how far you’ve traveled.</p>
<p>International Students are required to attend the International Student Orientation hosted by the International Programs Office before the start of the fall semester.</p>
<p>If you will be in the United States during the summer, and travel isn’t a concern, we encourage you to attend the New Students Orientation. This program will introduce you to student life, housing, academics, and course registration at UMass Amherst and will prepare you for the upcoming year.
Luggage Program</p>
<p>International students who will live in the residence halls may have luggage shipped to UMass Amherst before their arrival on campus. Housing Services will store your luggage at an off-campus storage facility at no cost to you. The Luggage Program guidelines are available on the Housing web site prior to the beginning of the semester.</p>

Available in First-Year halls
Some new students prefer to have a private room and designed singles are available for first-year students in Southwest and Central in RFYE communities. You may request this housing option on the Housing Assignment Preference Application.

<p>There isn’t really any way to guarantee a single room. you can maybe call or email the housing office and talk to them about your concerns and see if they can do anything for you
I don’t know of any new students who had a singler room, so I can’t say anything about how likely it is, but I do know that once you get to UMass there is the opportunity to switch your room almost right away, and there could be singles available then if you don’t get one with the original sign up process</p>
