Freshman Requirements and AP

Are there any courses that are required freshman year that I can get out of with AP? Is the a way to take a year off my collage experience with them at this collage?

Has anyone here done it?

What are you thinking of majoring in? The benefits of different AP tests vary based on your major reqs. In my experience the most important AP tests in general are:

one of the English tests – get a 4 or 5 and you qualify out of Eng Comp 3

a language (not Spanish Lit) – getting a 3+ qualifies you out of the 1 year language req

the rest depends on your major:
if your major requires calculus (econ, math, science, engineering) – take BC if possible because then you may be able to qualify out of 2 quarters of calculus

Course credit for AP tests is detailed here:

Anything that says “general” or “unassigned” means it doesn’t matter at all.

Sometimes getting AP credit can actually hurt you. Some people I know who took both Econ AP tests now can’t take Econ 1 and 2 to boost their Econ GPAs.
