Freshman research internship with this curriculum?

I’m starting at community college this fall, and I want to apply for a research internship the summer after freshman year. Would this be a competitive first year curriculum?? I know freshman research internships are hard to get, so I want to have as many relevant courses as possible:

Calculus I and II
General Chemistry I and II
Physics I (Calculus-Based)
Intro to Engineering
Statics
some Computer Science course…

Should I take Algebra based Physics 1st semester too, so I can have 2 semesters in both Chem and Physics??
i’m not concerned with the course load, i just can’t decide if i should take algebra based physics as well. BTW, i have no research experience to put on a resume so my courses will be the major part.

Anyone?? I know it’s a small thing, i just want to know if taking algebra physics AND calc physics in freshman year would look better for a resume than just calc physics second semester.
???

Don’t bother with a non-calc based physics class if you’re going to be taking a calc-based one anyway.

It looks like a pretty standard first year engineering load other than that, though.

ok thnx!! that’s what i was wondering. do you think i should add any other courses to make the resume more competitive??

Are you looking into doing MechE or CivE? That’s the only reason I can see to start off with statics.

I don’t think an extra course or two will change your chances for an internship a whole lot, it’s pretty tough to get a good one as a freshman. You should definitely try contacting local companies since they’re a lot less competitive and willing to deal with younger students.
