This past year has just given me so much to think about in terms of the future. I’m going to Pitt in the fall and I have my PittStart (an orientation type deal) next week. I’m panicking because I don’t know what classes I should take! The past two years I wanted to be a doctor but after taking AP Biology and AP Chem and not doing well in them, and also being a poor math student, I strayed away from it. I’m now thinking of natropathic medical school because I love the idea of holistic healing and to be honest, I really do have a passion for medicine, I just don’t know if i’m smart enough to make it through the classes. I also have a passion for writing and would love to pursue playwriting and screenwriting but I also want to be able to eat when I’m 23. lol. And to throw more mess and confusion into the mix, one thing I do know I want from my college experience is to learn another language so I’m looking into taking Arabic 1 (I plan to study abroad as well because I know you need to be immersed in the language to really pick it up). I’ve looked at becoming a translator as well. So, if you actually read this confusing mess of uncertainty my question is this:
- Do you think I should just take bio, chem, and stats, my first semester just to see how I do and if i simply can’t make it through, decide against it?
- Just do what I love and work hard?
I’m very aware of the realities of the economy and the job market and I want to be employable while also managing to enjoy life and not be a walking stress fest. Please help and be honest!
