Freshman Schedule

Could a couple of current Mudders post their schedules for freshman year (both semesters)?
Also, does anybody know how the curriculum changes will affect incoming students’ schedules?

The days/times vary from person to person…

ENGR008 HM 01 Design Representation & Realiztn -M-W-F- 09:00a 09:50a (this class does not really meet except for the first few weeks… i’m taking this class as an early elective)

and, of course, my focus is engineering.

In terms of the new curriculum… they are revamping CS5…which should be like “CS60 lite”. That means that it will be a little harder for most people… but I think more interesting.

Let’s see…there is more flexibility for the new curriculum in terms of humanities/soc science classes. Other than that, it is not going to be a world of difference.

Sounds like fun rocketDA!

The basic freshman schedule is pretty much what rocketDA posted, but to generalize a bit more…

Fall:
Chem 21 (lecture - meets MWF for an hour)
Chem 25 (lab - meets once a week, 4 hrs)
Physics 23 (lecture/recitation - meets tues/thurs for an hour)
CS5 (intro comp sci. class. as mentioned above, this is changing, so scheduling might change a bit, too)
Math 11 & 12 (calculus and linear algebra. many skip out of 11 and take 13 (differential equations) instead - all core math classes are only half a semester long. 11 and 12 meet MTWF for an hour, 13 meets MWF for an hour)
HUM 1 (writing intensive course. meets MTWF for an hour)

Spring:
Chem 22 (lecture - meets MWF for an hour)
Chem 26 (lab - meets once a week, 4 hrs)
Physics 24 (lecture/recitation. lecture tues/thurs for 1:15, recitation MW for an hour)
Physics 28 (lab - meets once a week, 2 hrs)
Math 13 & 14 (differential equations and multivariable calc. many have already taken 13 and only have to take 14. both are half semester classes, meet MWF for an hour)
Hum elective (this is part of the curriculum change. before, there was a required Hum 2 course. now you get to pick what you want that to be)
other elective(s) to fill remaining credits – i took Bio 54 (basically intro cell bio, lecture MWF for an hour and recitation on tues for an hour), other people take extra math classes, E4, or whatever else might fit that you meet the prereqs for. could even be another hum class

what happens on thursdays? do most people just not have much class or is that just the way the cookie crumbled for rocketDA?

Thursdays are pretty light. I love Thursdays and Fridays :)

oh…and most people have relatively light thursdays as well.
