Freshman son

My son is a freshman in the business school and he has been worried about the C grades he is getting in most of his tests. He has been to the counseling center and has gotten good advice and has done well on homework assignments and quizzes. He goes to class; but keeps saying how different this is than high school (we know!) He loves Maryland and wants to do well. He calls us at home and lets us know how he is doing; but he does get frustrated. We told him to keep studying, stay in close contact with his TAs, do any extra credit and we support him. I was wondering if any parents of freshman are hearing similar things from their sons and daughters. Thanks.

Is this in ECON201 with Terrell? Because, that class is a total bummer. If he’s getting C’s on the test, then tell him he should expect a B in the class with the curve, assuming he does well on his Aplia and Final exam.

Which classes is he taking? I agree with Bruins. If it’s econ or accounting, don’t worry too much about it, because C’s are very common there.

If he is doing well on homework and quizzes, it is probably just a matter of getting used to college exams and to the professors. To an extent, this problem doesn’t go away because each semester you have to figure out your professors’ teaching and grading styles. But this does become easier as you get more experience with it!

OMG ECON200 with clement is horrible
