Freshman Website Guide 2009!

So I did this last year, and I’d thought I’d do it again before orientation started. Here are some websites that you may or may not know about that I found extremely helpful.

[Academic Calendar](Academic Calendar)
Calendar - when classes start, end, holidays, drop-add period dates (The time at the beginning of the semester where you can still drop and add classes to your schedule)

[" + theTitle + "](http://maps.uga.edu/website/htmlviewer/hyperlink/viewer.htm)
Interactive campus map for finding buildings - by the way, there’s a flight of stairs on the side of the stadium that will take you directly to the chemistry building. After that, you’ll see a huge ass flight of stairs. If you’re like me and don’t want to take them, go inside the door that’s on your left before you get to the stairs. There’s an elevator (the two big lecture halls are on the 4th floor). I guess that has nothing to do with maps, but if you’re planning your walking route…

https://oasisweb.uga.edu/</a>
Oasis - how you’ll register for classes and keep up with other records

The following two links should be used together. This is how you can be self-sufficient and advise yourself! You are perfectly capable of putting together your own schedule instead of listening to an advisor…who might be wrong.
[Bulletin - Home](http://bulletin.uga.edu/) - major and course information
[Office of the Registrar - Schedule of Classes](http://www.reg.uga.edu/or.nsf/html/Schedule%20of%20Classes) - course schedule

Look up your major on the bulletin website to find your major. There you can find what classes you should take. You can also find course descriptions. Be aware that you have to fulfill degree requirements, college requirements, and university requirements. All those should be accessible through bulletin. Don’t take classes you don’t need to! Make sure they fulfill something!
Using the class schedule along with the campus map will help you find the places, days, and times when those classes are. There are 15 minutes between each class period, so you can’t be that far apart, but Oasis should tell you if they’re too far apart.
By the way, when choosing classes, keep in mind what you’ll be taking in the spring. If there are classes in the spring that have prereqs, you’ll need to take those classes in the Fall.

That’s all I can think of now. Anybody have anything to add?
