Freshman Year Experience (FYE) Course?

Anyone take this 1 credit course? How was it. was it worth it? here is the link for those interested in this course

[FYE: Success](http://fye.fsu.edu/Students/Success%20Stories.htm)

waste of money…basically they teach you about campus, it is sort of like orientation all over again…watch out during orientation they’ll try and sell this to you on every corner.

thanks for the tip. sounds like by starting in the summer, you have a good chance to get familiar with the campus and its resources without taking fye

why do you think this course is pushed so hard by the admnistration? for those who did take what are the positives and negatives

My sense is that it targets students who might need extra support to succeed at college- either FTIC students, ones with lower range of credentials that might need to avail the academic support services offered, ones that might be particularly prone to homesickness and not make it back after first semester, etc.

The benefit is you get an expedient way to learn about all facets of FSU: academic, service-learning, and social opportunities, while meeting new friends in a relaxed environment. It is taught by upperclass students.

If you are one that wants to take full advantage of every opportunity available, or are worried about making friends or navigating a bureaucratic system, it would be a good investment. If you like to take things as they come, and are confident you can figure things out on your own, you probably would not enjoy it.
