<p>I just got an email from NYU today saying:</p>

<p>"We have just completed our review of your application and I must inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the College of Arts and Science. However, I am delighted to tell you that your application has been selected for the Freshman Year in Florence General Studies Program. I congratulate you on your selection!</p>

<p>The General Studies Curriculum emphasizes the Great Books, with instruction in small classes creating a highly personalized, small college atmosphere. La Pietra serves to provide a rigorous environment that is especially suited for this humanistic curriculum. Students enrolled in this program will begin their first year of undergraduate education at our La Pietra campus in Florence. In their second year, students will continue their studies in New York City and have the opportunity to take courses in their intended area of interest. <p>Um, what? If I want to go to NYU, I have to go to Florence my freshman year??</p>

<p>from what us CCers have gathered, international students or Americans living abroad get sent to Florence…are you either of those?</p>

<p>what were they thinking?! Sure it’s a great opportunity but…um…?!</p>

<p>haha i know. its so weird! i can’t call them now, so I will tomorrow. If they tell me I have to go to Italy, I’ll say thank you, but no.</p>

<p>Isn’t it weird to hear about the GSP program now? I thought everyone heard earlier about that. Plus, I have a 2070 new SAT, 1350 old, so I guess I was right at the cut off line. oh well, I hope the Florence thing at least, is a mistake.</p>

<p>I talked to my college advisor, and she said this is legit. I can only go to NYU if I spend my freshman year in Italy.</p>

<p>Now, I’m seriously thinking about it. Still have to hear from other places though.</p>

<p>It is weird that NYU would make you go, though. Still, if it were me, I would be renewing my passport!</p>

<p>I would totally go if I were you too. I mean, yeah, it’s not what you were expecting, but it would be a great opportunity! Florence! You should definitely find out everything you can and seriously consider it. And congrats on getting in!</p>
