<p>My son as freshman made his first SAT try in Oct, amazingly he scored 2360, what should he do with his score? I guess the score should be valid till he graduates right? does it make any sense to send the scores to colleges he likes without applications, since it’s free to send scores anyway before the next SAT test.</p>

<p>The poster has only one post. Either she is lying, or her son has received private SAT tutoring for several years, which would be extremely bizarre but not overwhelmingly surprising considering this site’s target usership…</p>
<p>True, I’m a total new user for this site, since I have never expected he can get that high score in the first place for the first try, that’s why I’m looking for advice what to do with it. He didn’t have any tutor, but he did prepare it during the summer off and on, because he knew during freshman year the HS will offer a free test anyways, during his prep, he constantly tell me he can beat 2300, I didn’t even take it seriously, but it’s real now, I’m really lost and don’t know what to do with the score, I want to get some suggestions how to deal with the score except “celebration”, he still has 4 years to go. Of course he is absolutely a smart kid, taking 3 APs in freshman year, and very strong in writing, super reader since elementary school. </p>
<p>so I explored on the web yesterday and confirmed that the score should be valid for 5 years, looks like nothing he can do to send scores to colleges or so, just keep the score on file, and work hard on his GPA, hopefully to get him hit the PSAT 1% in junior, and focus a bit more on extra-curriculum… , that’s all what I can think of at the moment. </p>

That’s one less headache to worry about. I don’t know if you should send it to colleges now or not though. Yeah, you get the four free score reports, but do colleges keep the scores on file for that long?</p>
<p>OP, some great schools, like MIT and CMU, accept students who just finished HS junior year into their freshman classes. Since your son is super smart, you and he may consider that route.</p>
<p>What I would do with that is not take the SATs again, b/c as a Freshmen that’s incredible. Colleges will find that he has something super special that he aced the SATs on his first try and as a freshman too. With all that time where most people, like myself, who are studying religiously for this test, tell him to do a lot of community service hours, focus on any sports (track and field is a great sport to get into b/c there is ‘no’ real pressure to make it on the team) and get involved (leadership wise) in clubs.</p>
<p>Also what were his study habits like or techniques? Right now I am desperate for any tips to really improve on my scores, hahaaa.</p>
