I’ve always been a good student, but this semesterI had a problem with a big project that ruined my grades. I had a 94 average the first semester, but in one elective I received an 80 which pulled my grade down severely. How will this impact me?
Note I am a freshmen/sophomore right now and I sent an email but school ended and there is no real way to meet the teacher.
Thanks.
I think you know the answer - negatively. You have plenty of time to work on your cum GPA, though.
All will be fine. Relax. You will end up in the right college.
But comparatively, will the 80 in freshmen year be seen as a deal breaker?
What was the class? Many schools recalculate GPA and may not include certain subjects in that calculation.
It really depends on the class and where you go. Some places will consider your overall GPA but mostly use your sophomore/junior (and maybe first semester of senior year) GPA for admittance. And if the class was PE or some random elective you don’t plan on going into more (as opposed to a math/English/science/history class) then it’s still not as important.
Of course, colleges will probably be able to look at it. If you are applying to a more selective college, it will be more important as compared to a less selective college.
Just do your best through the rest of high school and good luck with college!
