Freshmen Orientation

If Freshman Orientation is on 8/28/09, the day the freshmen move into their RCs, do most people get there the day before? The calendar doesn’t say what time orientation is. Is it in am or pm?

you can do what you would like for orientation. The week before move in there are a number of preorientation programs you might consider. FOOT has 4 or 6 day backpacking trips with a group of 10 freshmen and 2 upperclassemen leaders. Harvest is another group of 10 freshman and a few upper classmen leaders where you live and work on a farm for 6 days. Cultural Connections is a preorientation program on the yale campus (though you won’t be living in your own down) where you discuss diversity and different issues for a week and do a bunch of fun things around campus and get to know campus. The freshperson conference is a group of about 100 freshman that go to a boyscout camp for three days before move in to have fun and have different panels about campus life. There is also a preorientation program for international students. So if you do one of these programs you would get to new haven early and then go on the preorientation program. for the programs not at yale you will get back around noon on move in day

if you are not doing a preorientation program then you can get to campus on move in day, but depending on how far away you live, you might consider coming the day before. you probably want to get to campus by noon or 1 because you want to meet your roommates and buy stuff you are going to need in your room

Thanks goolsci. But is there an actual orientation program on move in day - and is in the morning or afternoon?

No, there’s not an actual orientation per se but there are certain mandatory meetings that day, in the evening if i remember correctly. oh those were exciting times!
