If you really are seeking advice and want to do some more research on prospective graduate programs in engineering, this is a good place to start: [Best Engineering Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-engineering-schools)

sorry for the late reply, as i was down with fever

this is the funniest thread i’ve ever seen

friends why i am keeping on trying , many will say many things, it is their right to say.
i welcome all
here is the reason

Cut Off Plan, an alternate plan B

I’m very inspired by a story of Julius Caesar that I heard from one of my personal development tapes years back. When Caesar’s ships landed on the enemy beach, he immediately ordered his army to turn around and burn down all of their own ships. This left only one option, plow through the enemy lines, no matter what, and on to victory.

In my own life, I gave myself only one option, no plan B, no alternatives, and that option is to send my only son to the best Engineering school, no 1 ranked in the world(according to([US News & World Report - Breaking News, World News, Business News, and America’s Best Colleges - USNews.com](http://www.usnews.com)) the MIT mission “The essence of MIT is our appetite for problems-especially those big, intractable, complicated problems whose solutions make a permanent difference”.and it states further"And in MIT’s intensely creative atmosphere, the arts flourish in all their forms.yes WE believe in MIT ability absolutely.

Other college options and job opportunities were presented to my son, quite often, and he always thought of them as the “Serpent’s apple” which he refused to pick.
some say this is an amusing thread, some laud it as dream to pursue
we move on forward unmindful of all opinions.

but we respect people views,

but that will not stop us from pursuing what we dearly love, cherish and value
this life is only once , live it this moment.this goal

How can We live if stop trying ?
yes we keep on trying, moving forward, nothing will stop us
i trust in the Universal power whose guiding all
will guide us too
thanks friends for your time in sharing your views
i am indebted to you all

Dear easwaran,
Your son should look into Stanford, and Berkeley as alternative options. They’re really good if not as good as MIT.

My wonderful asian75

easwaran,
Julius Caesar did burn a lot of bridges, and eventually it got him killed. If you want a Roman role model, you might do better with M. Aemilius Lepidus, a man of superlative virtue, excellence and success who nevertheless knew when to compromise.

Sincerely, gooberyglobs

Dear gooberyglobs
thanks buddy, it is quite interesting to read about Marcus Aemilius Lepidus.
some glimpse i got when searched in the google.
please friend take a moment of busy time and give me link to read more about this gentle soul.
thank you for enlightening

I dont think the mission statement is a good reason to pick a school. Obviously MIT is a great school but that doesn’t mean the research they are doing is a good fit with your interest. I am just wondering how much you actually researched MIT. Also you need A LOT more than good grades and a good GRE score to get into any school especially MIT. Do you have any research experience or letters of recommendation?

Hi stickid

but he has assignment in his college that too group assignment
