Hey everyone, and congrats to all who were accepted ED!

I’m a Penn alum currently in medical school, and I must say that my time at Penn was utterly incredible and I can’t imagine having gone anywhere else. If any of you have questions for somebody with more of a long-range view of the Penn experience, I’d be happy to field them.

I hope you’re all excited to start your time at Penn, and I hope that going in you realize just what a marvelous and unique community of which you’re becoming a part. I have to tell you going in that it will be impossible to take advantage of everything that Penn has to offer, but that you should avail yourself to the greatest extent possible of Penn’s incredible research culture, intellectual climate, and strong sense of (campus, local, global) community. Penn needs a lot more alums to choose careers in research and academia (not only consulting and finance :-P), and I hope that some of you aspire to futures in medicine, natural sciences, law, public service, and the arts. (Plus, I’m really jealous of all of you to be starting at Penn at a time that you’ll be able to enjoy what is without a doubt a very different campus than when I started at Penn…and that was under 10 years ago!)

There is nothing that you can’t be with the resources of Penn available to you.
