From and ADMISSIONS perspective which is better: a 2200 or 33

Hey guys I want to be an engineer from some top schools

What should I submit:

Sat 1: math 740, critical reading 730, writing 730

Act: math 35 English 35 reading 29 science 31

Since you took the time to take them both, why not send them both.

The are about the same. ACT may be a tad better but SAT has better distribution. You should send both as both are good.

I am only going to submit one. Which ONE is better?

You have essay with ACT? Did you take SAT2?

I got tens on both essays. I scored a combined English writing of 32 for act.

I have taken like 5 SAT subject tests. Most were 600-650.

The only ones I would consider submitting would be a 770 math II and 690 US history

Please. Which one is better for engineering schools

Here are the concordance tables. Your SAT reasoning and ACT scores do not appear to be significantly different combined, but your ACT is more unbalanced.

So I should probably go with the ACT since the math is better?

Submit them both. They are essentially the same. Trust admissions to see you in the best light. They’ll “pick” the better one, whichever they decide it is.

I agree with submit both. But if u want me to choose one, then id say SAT. Because ur reading is pretty low on the ACT, compared to ur SAT

Submit both. While you have a very good ACT, the reading is low. With the SAT, the admissions office can reason that the relatively low reading score may just be a bad test day.

Realize that for some top schools, if you submit your SAT score you must submit ALL SATII scores. These would be for the schools that do not have score choice. If you submit the ACT, you do not have to submit the SATIIs which are “low” by top school standards.

Could I submit the ACT and only the sat 2 math

Depends on the college. Go to their websites and check.

If you insist on saving that $11, go with ACT. As many school would require SAT1+2SAT2 or ACT with writing. Your SAT2 is not very convincing and has lower percentile than your ACT or SAT1 scores.

Some schools will require ALL your scores, whether you want to send them or not.

For those schools that do not require all scores, your SAT is better because it does not have the weak reading score.

And your Math II and US History scores are fine . . . for those schools that require two subject test scores. (A weakness in US History is better than a weakness in reading). For schools that don’t require two subject tests, just send the Math II.

Problem solved. (But, since everybody on this thread seems to disagree, you’ll either have to pay the additional $11 or flip a coin.)

I strongly recommend sending both scores. You never know which test and which section score each school would value most. Nevertheless, they will look at the best scores your submitted anyway. That $11 would be well spent and may increase your chance slightly.

Does the fact that I am majoring in engineering change anything?
