From Chile

Hi, I live in Chile and I’m planning to attend Northwestern University as an exchange student during Winter-Spring 2012. The idea is to attend a prestigious university but also having fun. That’s why I would like to know which courses you recommend me in order to meet people and not having such a hard time studying.

I was thinking in courses that freshman take. What do you think? Also, since I study Law here in my country I need to attend to two courses that have the word “Law” in their name. They don’t necessarily need to be from Law School, maybe Political Sciences or something like that may fit.

Please help me, I don’t want to fly all the way north to be stuck in a small dorm reading alone. It is not that Im lazy, I have no problem in studying, but meeting girls and friends it is far more important in an exchange expirience.

Thank you.

I like you lol

I studied abroad for a semester in Valparaiso, and people were great, so I’m glad to return the favor.

You may wish to check out the legal studies dept. (the undergraduate law program):

[Center for Legal Studies, Northwestern University](http://www.legalstudies.northwestern.edu/)

A few other courses that are pretty popular (in no particular order):
Law and Society
Law and Economics
Media Law and Ethics
Constitutional Law
Law and the Political Arena

Thanks for the help. Any other recommendation, specially for the social area?

It depends what your definition of “social” is. If you’re really into partying, drinking, and don’t mind loud noises, look into the Bobb-McCulloch dorm. You’ll find lots of like-minded people there.

If you’re looking for something less intense, but still want to meet a lot of people, you could try something like Allison I guess? You’ll probably want to avoid dorms like Plex, ISRC, and CRC, which have reputations for being more quiet and less social (but are still lots of fun, I can assure you!).

Do we have a res college that would be good for a law student? PARC, maybe?
