From Film School to Nuclear Engineering

I’m a film student at Boston University. I’m in my 3rd year, but I took a semester off so I’ve got sophomore standing.

Without going too far into things, I’m just pretty sure I don’t want to major in film anymore. I wasn’t the greatest science and math student in high school, and my SAT/ACT scores aren’t the best. I am however, incredibly interested in the field and dedicated to working towards admission into a nuke program.

I’m thinking about taking some classes that any school would require for engineering; calc 2 and the like. Does anyone have any ideas about other classes that might improve my chances for transfer into a nuclear engineering program? Because right now, on paper, I look like the most unqualified prospective engineer you could probably think of.

Also, I realize this is a long shot (trust me…I know). That said, I’d prefer only constructive advice and constructive criticisms. Thanks a lot!!

For just about any engineering you will need the following:

Calculus I and II
Multivariate Calculus
Differential Equations
Calculus-based Physics I and II (at least)

With these courses under your belt you will be ready to start taking engineering courses but realize that it will probably take you a full 3 years. If you have a target university, look up what their transfer requirements are and talk to them.

Good luck!
