University of Portland… you’ll get in, I’m certain. University of Oregon auto-accepts residents with 3.25+ GPAs. So a 3.0 is probably good enough for admission, even for a non-native. You have basically no ECs is all I worry about. And I’m thinking Northeastern is out of the question.

I thought my ECs were good. I have over 150 community service hours, and I am going to be a leader in a teen help group and vice president of the middle eastern politics club.

My main EC is my music website, since i dedicate about 10 hours a week to it.

Both of my brother and my sister had stats pretty much identical to mine and one is at Cal Poly SLO and the other is at Santa Clara. Just because i would fall in the bottom 20% in the GPA at the colleges im applying, doesnt mean im out of the running. I would actually say i would end up at about the middle half at alot of these colleges when my SAT is factored into it. Also, i have an upward trend: I had a 2.6 freshman year, a 2.8 soph, and a 3.5 junior year.

I actually disagree about your SAT. 1310 is a very solid score, but not enough to elevate your standings. I would be surprised if you could get into Santa Cruz or Northeastern, and I think Bucknell is completely out of the question. Good luck though.

First of all, I didnt post this so I could get laughed at by some elitist who thinks hes hot sh it because he stayed home and studied more than i did.

I have never taken honors due to the fact my freshman/sophomore year gpa was a 2.6 and a 2.9, therefore, i couldnt get into any. I got a 3.5 junior year and i plan on getting a 3.7 first semester senior year.

Another note: My freshman/sophomore year grades were due to mental illness issues as well as being forced to go to a crappy private school where i didnt know anyone. It was the worst 2 years of my life, and im only saying this so that dhl ******* can try and be a little more sympathetic.

Also, my school has this computer program where it puts all the schools applicants on a scattergram so i can see kids stats and whether they got into a college or not. It also puts me on the graph to see where i stack up in comparison to the last years applicants acceptance/denied dots. I made my list based upon this graph and my chance to get into the college.

According to the scattergrams:

I have a really good chance at UCSC, Oregon, gonzaga, puget sound, and Portland. I also visited two of these schools this summer and had great interviews at both.

Reaches are Bucknell, Santa Clara, Northeastern all of which im on the cusp of acceptance. Im just below in the GPA (the bottom 25%) group, but SAT im shown to be in range.

im not being sympathetic, but i really think northeastern is a match for you. ur SAT score will seem to override ur gpa. actually, retake ur SAT, and try to get above 2150. then ure surely in. and don’t worry, just write a good essay. maybe the topic can be how u improved throughout high school and how u fought the mental illness. gluck :)

I actually dont want to take the SAT for the third time. I really feel like i piqued at 2010. Also, I havent been studying and i would rather just focus on school because the SAT is stressful enough.

My essay actually does have to do with my mental illness and me overcoming it.
