Frustration

Minor vent…

I have been waiting ALL DAY for a lighting contractor to show up. I have cleaned bathrooms, made beds, done ALL the laundry, bathed the dog and posted incessantly on CC in an effort to entertain myself. The guy was supposed to show up at 9 a.m., then rescheduled to 1 p.m. and then to 3 p.m. He was actually supposed to show up yesterday, but couldn’t… so I set aside doctor and other appts in order for him to work in and outside my home today.

It is now about to freaking storm here and I know what that means. I have wasted my entire day again.

Just had to share that. Contractors, in general, irk me.

Blech! And to thin kyou even rescheduled a doctor’s appointment for this!

I hate scheduling
I had a talk with my H last night about if I was really going to go back to school- how flexible he was going to be- D hasn’t taken drivers ed- or have time for it- and has a very busy schedule-
However he has no idea if he is even going to be here- since his boss came down on him yesterday for not having gotten his passport yet.
(I told him, he should tell her I can’t even get him to call up the roofing contractor)
Supposedly he is going to Canada for work- but this is the 5th time they have told him he is going someplace else, and only one time he actually had to go.
I guess I just plan that he isn’t going to be around-
we haven’t had to deal with contractors- but I know it is so frustrating when they give you a range of anywhere between 8am & 6pm, then call at 5:30 pm to reschedule.
grr

Hopefully, CC has been “entertaining” enough to balance out that frustration! :D

While I understand it is never easy to predict exactly how long a repair or delivery will take, why on earth do these companies insist on a 6 hr window (“we’ll be there between 8-2”). Some companies now have finally gotten with the program, and will call a specified phone # with a 20-30’ lead time so you don’t have to sit around all day. It is usually the dispatcher who calls. What a PLEASURE.

ldmom- If/when the guys show up to fix the outdoor lighting, gee… it would be a shame if the sprinklers “accidentally” went off. You can tell them the sprinklers go off sometime between 9-3 :D

Idmom
So true about contractors. I knew someone who worked for one who would get frustrated that he’d schedule times that were unrealistic. I think contractors get sued second to moving companies.

Yes! CC saved my sanity today (and yesterday!) And darn it jym, I’ve been out in the yard with these guys (getting soaked) and missed your gem of suggestion! Had I seen it, I just might have had to reprogram those sprinklers…hehehe.

Believe it or not, they showed up and worked in the rain. It’s just low-voltage lighting, so I guess they were only risking tiny electrocution. I was more worried about them being struck by lightening and tried to put them off to another day. Didn’t see the need to have my umbrella policy tested. But they insisted and they are finished, and this evening, we shall see if they actually did the work right this time.

The owner of the company actually came out to smooth things over. Kept winking and grinnin’ at me. Gag. Think I need another shower.

I do LOVE the contractors who will call my cell 30 minutes before and let me be FREE to go about my business until needed. (And I also really like the ones who don’t wink at me.) Those are my kind of guys.
