My new grad started her job few days ago and needs to sign up for her benefits. She has dental expenses coming up this year which we put money towards into my DH FSA up to the maximum but it will not be enough to cover dental expenses. Is she allowed to put money into her employer FSA to cover the remainder of the upcoming dental expenses?
Employee benefits attorney here: yes, if your husband’s employer’s FSA allows the payment of expenses for non-dependent adult children before age 26. They are not required to do so, but most do. There is no prohibition on paying expenses from two FSAs, as long as the covered individual is eligible under both of them.
Thank you @planit ! We were thinking to keep dental insurance for her from my husband’s employer as well her own insurance from her employer. Our dentist told us that some people have secondary insurance that covers what primary insurance didn’t cover. Both employers offer Delta Dental PPO.
