FSU "College Town" construction to start 2011

Seminole Boosters Inc. and Hunter & Harp Holdings LLC today proposed College Town — an entertainment and residential district to be located between Gaines and South Madison Street — at a meeting of the Florida State University Board of Trustees.</p>

<p>The proposal calls for College Town to link downtown Tallahassee to the FSU campus while creating an urban-renewal community that is casual, eclectic and safe. The development was described in a proposed amendment to the university’s 2008 Adopted Master Plan that would expand the campus south and connect it with Gaines Street.

<p>It is an extension of the Gaines revitalization project, and Gaines is already looking better. This is going to be a great addition and will get the Gaines plans off and running now that the roadwork is moving along.</p>

<p>Yeah, it’s just even more inconvenient construction for something that won’t be finished until I’m gone lol. But it is pretty exciting for those who are just starting high school.</p>
