I am a new transfer student coming from St Pete college. During orientation they made a point of telling us how most transfer students see a 1.0 GPA drop and transfer students have three times the dropout rate of regular students.
I had a 3.6 GPA coming in from SPC and was wondering if i could get feedback on if it really is that much more difficult. I would like to think i have good study habits, is this going to be a rude awakening?

My major is Applied Economics with a statistics minor.

Typical doesn’t mean everyone, and correlation does not indicate causation. I’ve never taken a class at a community college to compare it to, but if you work hard, I wouldn’t expect a rude awakening. You may end up with less than a 3.6, you may not, but typically the ones who fail out are those that don’t go to class.

I would suggest you assume it will be much more difficult and prepare accordingly. Your GPA is not something you want to risk. This is why you were given this information at Orientation.
