Nice!

Ms. Danley is actually the second student from Florida State to win a Udall scholarship. The first was Teresa Vargas, who received hers in 1996. (See [udall.gov](http://udall.gov/OurPrograms/MKUScholarship/MeetOurScholars.aspx?Year=1996).)

FSU’s own home page remarks that Ashley is the first winner from FSU. Maybe the prior winner came to FSU after much of the work was done that earned the award?

Zolabean, thanks for that head’s up. I actually emailed the Office of National Fellowships. The chair is out on maternity leave but the vice chair has already updated the info on FSU.com. The press release and info now read that this was the first Udall award winner in 13 years and references Teresa Vargas, the first winner. Seems Ms. Vargas was indeed an FSU student when she qualified and was granted the award. So FSU is now proud to announce the winner and mention the first winner in 1996. Now that is being receptive to clarifying information!!!

And if Ms Vargas is reading this, thanks for paving the way.
