UF online vs. FSU with Honors - which is one of the top Honors to get in.
Hmmmm - both are great schools and well respected but UF isn’t Wharton School like they’d make you think. A large flagship is a large flagship is a large flagship in most cases including UF. It’s a solid school - like the other SEC schools and in this case an ACC school - which is way better than your UF offer.
I would choose just about every state flagship over UF Pace - which isn’t attending college.
But FSU is strong - and FSU Honors is off the charts.
Congrats - I’d assume if you got Honors, you got an OOS waiver. But the abroad program is great too.
Congrats - FSU for the win and don’t look back. Not sure how one would be conflicted in this situation.
I’m conflicted that you even thought UF Pace was a good thing
Seriously, FSU Honors is brutally hard to get - much harder than ASU and U of SC - the two leading Honors Colleges historically.
I already have a lot of AP exam credits and for business many classes are already online at UF so I would be able to save some money with the PACE program and for a business degree wouldn’t UF give me an edge? I don’t think PACE is any less than regular admission. I might even have more time and flexibility to pursue other things.
Also i’ve heard from a popular college counselor online that honors even if its FSU isn’t going to give me a competitive edge compared to that UF name…
And with FSU Honors besides the extra classes and assignments what will it do for me?
Btw you have no idea what your AP credits are good for. My kid had 33 but 9 counted. Many count for the same thing. TIL you meet an advisor. My second kid got credit but the course flow - still took 4 years. He had 36.
PACE is less than regular admission because it’s not admission. It’s online admission. Do you want to be an online student ?
Popular - huh ? Is he in the real world.
Will FSU Honors give you an edge? Maybe -maybe not. Will UF business head to head give you an advantage over FSU ? Highly unlikely. I say that because on job apps, there’s no place for Honors. But every school is different - you likely have a cohort, dedicated profs and more. And probably a ton of enrichment - speakers, mentors, advisors. My daughter is in a tight knit Honors. It’s wonderful. But you bring up a good point - Honors is not for everyone. Some have class work kids don’t want. So make sure it’s good for you but you should have done that b4 you applied. It does give you something to talk about in interviews.
And I can promise you from the working world - UF is not this behemoth those flags they fly on campus would have you believe. It’s a great school as is FSU. One what’s you on campus, in class, making friends and having a 4 year experience.
The other doesn’t.
It’s not even a contest -in my mind.
But it sounds like your mind is made up. So if so, go for it.
