FSU or UMBC? Any suggestions?

University of Maryland Baltimore County
vs
Florida State University

Major: Computer Science, PhD (wireless, network, security)

I am an international student.
Would anyone tell me that which one has a better academic reputation?
Expense, safety, climate… are not so important.
Thank you for all your helping!

I’m currently an undergraduate at UMBC, and I’ve done a good bit of computer science here.

First, are these the only programs you were accepted to?

I can’t tell you anything about Florida State, but I’ve done a good bit of computer science here. The undergraduate program is rigorous. The professors are generally very good, in stark contrast to those in computer engineering. The Ph.D. program isn’t huge, but it is one of the bigger programs on campus. All the graduate students I’ve met are extremely friendly. The computing environment is Unix-based. I’m familiar with labs covering the semantic web, AI, graphics/modeling, and wireless/optical networking. Here’s the link for the labs: http://www.cs.umbc.edu/CSEE/research/index.html

If there’s anything else you want to know, ask away.

FSU is more prestigious, but UMBC is a good school even though not everyone has heard of it
