So I’m an “early admission” part time student at a community college right now, I’ve been in since January 2013 and have the option of going full time next semester. My issue is, I’m conflicted about whether I should go full time or stay a part time student and pursue extracurriculars and part time work?
I already work two jobs part time, and was recently invited to join Phi Theta Kappa - where I’d like to become an officer. Should I stay part time and keep working and doing extracurriculars such as clubs and volunteering, or should I focus on going full time? I have a 4.0 so I’m just no sure which is more important if i want to transfer to a 4 year university in the next year or so.</p>

Generally, I would do whichever option that allows you to maintain a 4.0, because regardless of other factors that will open up a lot of doors. If you think you can keep up your grades either way, I would probably lean towards going full time. You could still do a few ECs right? It also depends on how many units you mean by part time. If you mean 10 units, then maybe just keep doing what you’re doing. If you mean 6, well then I would definitely add some units because that would just take forever. It definitely depends on where you want to transfer too, but I just think there are a lot of schools that care way more about your grades than ECs, at least that’s how it is here in CA. Really, I think you will be alright either way, as long as you keep your gpa up. Good luck!</p>
<p>I’m torn between transferring to a local liberal arts school, or going to University of Maryland and doing Navy ROTC.
At our school part time means anything under 4 classes per semester, 4 classes being the maximum and anything over 4 is basically overtime.
Being a Bio student I could probably do one or two ECs but the program is pretty rigorous and time consuming from what I understand.
The tough part is, if I transfer to the local school, I have to finish my associates for a discount on tuition. If I want to transfer to NROTC then I have to do so before I earn 30 or 40 credits, so I suppose I could take all my easy gen eds first full time to get them out of the way.
I guess I’m just conflicted about what I want to do, haha. Thanks for your help (:</p>
