Fun Bridal Shower Games--WIDE Age Range (8-85)

Anyone with great suggestions for fun shower games? There will be 13 of us, including me and the bride (my niece). They want me to plan the games and we will have a private room. There are folks from about 8 years old to the grandmother of the bride (my mom) who is 85.

So far, my sister who is planning the shower wants to have the bride dressed in wrapping paper and have a bouquet with the ribbons (which we ALWAYS do), but I’m supposed to plan the other games.

I have assembled about 22 things that the bride (& groom) can bring along on their honeymoon for a memory game–will let everyone look at the tray briefly, then write as many things as they can remember after I cover up the tray. (Will gift the bride with all the items–like travel toothbrush & toothpaste, sewing kit, etc. – little travel things.)

I’m just trying to think of other games that would work with the huge age range. Maybe a scavenger hunt in teams? Maybe wedding bingo? Have read about the game where there are forbidden words and if you get another guest to say a forbidden word (like groom, groom’s name, wedding), you collect a clothespin from the other guest and the person with the most clothespins at the end of the time period wins. The games will be while everyone is sitting, as there won’t be much room to move around in the “private room,” but would appreciate any suggestions. We will have two tables of guests, with only one of them (friend visiting niece) not related to the bride.

I’m trying to decide on two or so more games. Thanks for suggestions.

OK, just completed making up a game that has famous couples–female names on one page and male names with numbers on the 2nd page. You put the male’s number by the female he is associated with. Have used some comic names, like Nala (Simba), Lady (Tramp), movies Ginnie Weasley (Harry Potter), TV Big Bang Penny (Leonard) as well as historical Cleopatra (Mark Anthony), as well as put in references so folks can figure out the context for the names. Have chosen 40 names of couples and figure folks can play this while they’re waiting for all the guests to arrive. Anyone with suggestions for a 3rd game?

Hmm my games are a little racey for an 8yr old.
Remember when Burt Reynolds posed for Playgirl?
I vaguely remember a " pin the_on the _" game.

A pillow fight. B-)

Hmmm, I may end up rounding out the games with wedding bingo, where people make a bingo card–5 across and 5 down and then things related to the couple are called out and people can put an x on that portion of the card. At least that involved minimal skill and might give all ages an equal chance. We won’t have much room to walk around the room, so seated games are requested.

Musical chairs?

Nah, that doesn’t sounds very “weddingish” and wouldn’t work very well in a crowded room with food and waithelp coming and going, but thanks for the thought.

"Fun bridal shower " is an oxymoron!

I was at a shower where the groom’s mother took the answers used for a relationship game and embroidered them into a quilt she gave the couple for their wedding gift. The game had cards printed up with the starter phrase " Love Is…" and you wrote your name on the back, the winner was who guessed the most correct answers from who had offered the advice.
They also had a wall of photos of the bride from all her different ages and whomever guessed the most right, won.

We are doing pass the envelope with the left right bridal story.Printed Sorry in bridal color and used clip at to print out cute bride and groom.Let’s say their are eight people at each table so you need seven Sorry! and one bride/groom so everyone at each table has a envelope. As I read story envelopes are passed. At end of story everyone opens envelope and who has bride/groom wins prize. If you have seven tables you need seven prizes.Bought chevron striped mugs regular 11.00 dollars for 4.76 was going to use 5 dollar lottery tickets. This will be our ice breaker.

I don’t really think you need another game but I like a bride / groom trivia game about the couple because you end up learning about them. Whoever is writing the questions for the game needs to interview the bride to get really specific fun facts about the couple to include.

A fast/easy /for all ages one my family used recently–guess the number of chocolate kisses in a jar. People can do this as they arrive/are waiting for others. (Number of kisses was number of days until the wedding). Closest guess wins the jar of kisses. Jar can be decorated with ribbon in wedding colors if you like.

The shower games were a great hit, tho there was a bit of controversy over Cinderella’s prince’s name. In the musical, it was Christopher, I guess it was Charming in other versions. The bride was pleased with all the items in the memory game for her to bring along on the honeymoon.

The MOG was so taken by the games she wanted to use it at a future event and/or quiz her own kids. I promised to send a spreadsheet to the bride to send to her.
