<p>atomom – we had the navy blue version of your gym suit in junior high. Horrible. Could never do a chin-up or climb a rope. We ran laps. Endlessly. I also faked showers. I hated, hated, hated the body comparisons. </p>
<p>The nine weeks we did first aid training were my favorite part. We also had biannual flouride treatments in PE class. Had to brush with nasty tasting stuff and then chew the red tablets to see if we missed any spots. </p>
<p>S1’s PE class was freshman year and was at the end of the day (only the kids in his program had an extended day). This had the effect of making it “nerd PE.” He used to do his laps while reading a book. When the PE teacher mentioned this to the audience at back-to-school night, S and I had a little chat. The teacher’s feeling was that she wanted the kids to get some exercise and find things they’d like to do as lifetime activities. So, when she gave him permission to play Ultimate every day during class, he was sold.</p>
