I liked the dig on grammar. As I was reading it, I kept thinking, “he’s typing this while he’s pissed off because the grammar is all over the place.”
lol.
I missed the backstory. did the Argus do a dirt piece on him and/or Affleck?
Oh, yeah:
Mind you, this is only the latest in long line of polished alumni who have outted themselves as avid Argus readers including an army of journalists when it was thought the newspaper was about to lose its funding a year ago and a memorable crusade by Matthew Weiner seven or eight years ago that put a temporary halt on plans to demolish Mocon.
Ah Wesleyan. The Berkeley of the NESCAC. In so many ways, that is an accurate comparison.
Hey circuitrider, while I do think alumni keep occasional tabs on the Argus, I think it was much more likely that Kenneth Lonergan has a Google Alert on his own name and saw that someone from his alma mater published a takedown piece and his ego couldn’t really take it. I highly doubt that this many people are keeping tabs on the Argus.
I can’t help but notice that student reactions are strangely similar in these situations. When Matthew Weiner posted a letter to the Argus, completely out of the blue, a decade ago, many people were incredulous at first that it was the same gentleman who created Mad Men. Then, when The Argus confirmed that it was, someone quickly pointed out that he’d made a grammatical error.
