Futons, Bean Bags, and Chairs

I’m sure this has been discussed here before, so pardon if this is redundant…

Anyone have any good recommendations for places to buy inexpensive dorm furniture?

BB&B doesn’t really carry futons or bean bags (only covers).

Walmart’s selection looks ok online…wondering how it is. Same with Target.

Any special websites I don’t know about? Hidden gems? A google search gives results like beanbagbazaar and thefutonshop.

Anyone have anything they love?

TIA!

Rummage/yard sales. Freecycle. i currently have 2 dorm room recliners taking up space in my garage (d doesn’t need them anymore). I will be putting them at the curb on a sunny Saturday with a sign that says “free”

These may not be as inexpensive as you are looking for, but we have one. They are good quality and versatile:

[There’s a bed inside! CordaRoy’s Sleepers - The Original Convertible Beanbag](http://cordaroys.com/home.php)

Wow, those CordaRoy Sleepers look awesome. Thanks for the link, MB!

Ordinarylives, I wish my D’s school had a garage sale at the end of each school year for graduating kids selling off their things. Sigh.

Tag sale at the end of the year? My kids got some really nice things that others were going to toss.

DD’s school was part of a program…they actually went through the things left for trash as well as taking donations…and they did have a tag sale proceeds going to charity. I don’t remember the name, but this is a nationwide program. Her school raised the top amount for many years. It’s shocking what some kids leave.

But that brings me to a good point…don’t send it to college at all unless it will absolutely be used.

Where are the futon and bean bag chair going to go? I hope it’s in an apartment because floor space in dorm rooms is at a premium!

Overstock dot com is also a good source. I believe shipping is still $2. I would be reluctant to get someone’s second hand futon, kind of like used mattress.

Both my kids had futons (beds were bunked/lofted) in their dorm rooms. They came from Walmart.

Thanks all for the suggestions. D will be a senior and lucky for her the upperclassman housing at her school is quite spacious.

My D had a Walmart futon that looked like these:
[mali futon beds - Walmart.com](http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=mali+futon+beds&ic=16_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=0)
She used it for a couple of years in dorm rooms and then was able to sell it for around half the original price. Good deal all around.

Come about July the stores and store flyers will be full of it!!! Sn got a futon rm Walmart for around $100 - it is on its 3rd year and eats used pretty heavily and roughly - it may not look peret but it still stands on all 4 legs!!!

July will have plenty of options and sales on college stuff. Patience until then is needed.

haha this business was just on Shark Tank… pretty sure they didn’t get a deal though. I also thought they looked awesome.

Just saw this as I was going through the list of new posts. I have the [Intex Pull Out Chair](http://www.amazon.com/Intex-68565E-Pull-out-Chair/dp/B005OHEYZG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_11) in my dorm and it’s fantastic. Though it’s $44 on Amazon right now, I bought it for $30 just a few months ago. The vinyl is thick, so it’s hard to puncture, and it’s inflatable, meaning easy storage for when it’s not in use. The best part is, it’s also a bed, so in case your child has a guest over, he or she can give them a place to sleep.
