We looked at Rutgers last week and were more impressed than we thought we would be. DS may add Rutgers College to his list, but we are aware there is some plan in the air about changing the status of the individual colleges. Anyone have any insight/info on this? How would this affect students entering in 2006? Rutgers would be far less appealing if the history and prestige of Rutgers College were to change.

Decision should be made by January as to restructuring. Changes will make life easier for students logistically, and curriculums will be standardized across the university. The standards will still be very high, faculty the same, students very diverse. It is a great university and its graduates are well prepared for the world and its challenges. There is no better bargain in higher education, especially in the northeast. Good luck.

Is this a done deal, or is it a trial balloon?
Guess we could just apply and see what happens in January, don’t have to respond until spring assuming DS is accepted. It did seem like a terrific school for the price, and DS is excited by proximity to NYC.

Done deal. the trial balloon was adding the Med school–it flopped.

How does this affect the Rutgers COllege/College Ave experience - will it still exist? DS did not envision himself at the Livingston campus I’m sure. What about the reputation of the liberal arts degree? Opinions?

posted this a while ago, any opinions on effect on Rutgers College and reputation?
