Future Profession vs. Intended Major

I was wondering if it would be wise to write my CA essay about my experiences in the field of law, research I have done at the Supreme Court on appellate cases and things of that nature. I will be applying to schools as an economics major so I’m worried the essay might seem a bit irrelevant. Is it understood that I am still interested in economics?

I could be wrong, but I think that’s perfectly fine. As long as you have a passion and things you care about and are dedicated to, I don’t think colleges particularly expect you to have been pursuing and writing about interests only related to your intended major. I mean, there’s a variety of special things and interests that make you who you are, and that one thing you choose to study certainly doesn’t define you as a whole person. I would say they’re more interested in getting to know who you are, whether you write about economics or law or coffee or whatever you want. They’ll understand that you’re ultimately interested in studying economics. I plan to go into medicine, but I still wrote my essay about music because it’s what I love.

Just write about your passion, whatever it is!
