Minor in transportation and logistics
Its pretty much a combination of economics, civil and industrial engineering along with some very transport specific, applied, case study type courses

it an undergrad for minors awarded by the Northwestern University Transportation Center, pretty much the most prestigious transportation indsutry think tank in the nation

Excellent news!

Jazz studies is a gem at nu. they just restructured it and are bringing in a bunch of faculty from all over the world. The director (Victor Goines) is commuting from New York where he plays with Live at Lincoln Center. Faculty of the caliber of Peter Martin, piano, and Carlos Henriquez, bass will be teaching next year.

Correction (2010 ranking): Business 3rd

For kids interested in business:
-MMSS (mentioned above)
-BIP (Business institutions program, a minor)
-Kellogg certificates (in financial economics and managerial analytics)
-4 year BA/MA Economics program.

I have a friend who’s doing all of the above, plus a double major Economics BA and a second minor in math.

Someone asked if you can do MMSS, Econ and Kellogg. The answer is a resounding yes. It also would not be as challenging as you think - given that you are reasonably talented enough to stay in MMSS for two years, with decent grades you would automatically qualify for the Kellogg certificate, and Econ is a very straightforward double major with MMSS.

I want to plug for Northwestern Materials Science and Engineering - for those young high schoolers out there who don’t really know yet, Materials Science and Engineering is the next big major that is going to dominate research in the 21st century (seriously, go take a look at what’s making science news these days - it’s all materials related) and I am excited to say that Northwestern is one of the biggest players in the field. If you’re curious, definitely worth your time to research and check it out.

I noticed on [Field study, Academic options, Academics, Freshman, Office of Undergraduate Admission - Northwestern University](http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/freshman/academics/field-study.htm)
that they didn’t mention any internships in medicine or at hospitals. Where can we get one during the school year if we’re going pre med?

thanks so much!! I tried looking for this kind of site before but didn’t succeed.

Does anyone know how far the Northwestern Memorial Hospital is from the main campus? It’s in Chicago and not very close. How tedious would transportation be?

A couple of random rankings I found…

African History 1

several of the links of the OP are now broken.

also,

“While graduate ranking may not necessarily reflect the quality of undergrad program”

–are the rankings in the Op for grad and not for UG?

I was wondering how NU is ranked for UG in computer engineering?

Department rankings are almost always graduate rankings. Sometime you hear about “undergrad rankings” but they are mostly “reputation rankings” which are essentially graduate rankings; faculty/research/PhD programs bring reputation, not undergrad in most fields (exceptions: certain trades such as accounting, fashion design…or business week ranking that actually uses undergrad data such as SAT score, starting salary..etc).
